User Parameters
If you want to model parameters that do not exist in the geological models, you can create user parameters, for example, to model cost factors or heading types.
You can access the User Parameters form by clicking the Edit user defined parameter icon in the Initial parameters and Parameter changes data grids. The data grid that appears in the form is the same as the User parameters data grid in the Define Geology > Models tab.
Columns in the User Parameters Form

| Name |
The name for the parameter.
 Note: The name is case-sensitive and cannot contain spaces.

| Type |
The type of parameter. Options are:

| Weight by |
The method used to determine how a numeric parameter value is calculated when reporting from multiple locations, where the parameter value varies by location. Options are:
- Mass: The parameter is weighted by mass.
- Volume: The parameter is weighted by volume.
- Length: The parameter is weighted by length.

| Background value |
The background value for the parameter.
The background value is used for any location or heading for which no specific parameter value is assigned in the scenario.
Notes:
- User parameter values for development headings are assigned in the Setup Development > Parameters tab. You can change numeric parameter values along a heading.
- User parameter values for underground production locations are assigned in the 3D Canvas of the Setup Schedule > Locations tab.
- User parameter values for surface production locations are assigned in Parameters data grid in the Setup Schedule > Parameters tab. You can change numeric parameter values over time, in both surface and underground production locations.
